I get a real thrill whenever I make something pleasing to the eye, whether that eye belongs to me or to others. That has varied over the years; painting images in acrylic and watercolors, cobbling together collages from scraps, learning the ins and outs of printmaking, and switching it up to DIY-craftmaking when it’s time for gift-giving or some personal space sprucing-up.

While studying at Temple University, my beginnings in exploring the arts involved learning what I’m capable of when using my hands and getting dirty, developing a critical eye for editing my design process, and exposing myself to the creativity of people preceding me. An artist of this day and age should know the artistic milestones; mine are personally the Italian Renaissance, Fauvism, Dadaism, Cubism, and definitely Pop Art.

The transition to graphic design was natural. Computers are a significant part of how we live, and I wanted to adapt my fine art skills to a digital platform. I focused my attention towards learning digital print design for things like ads, corporate ID, and logos, and using these software programs as aid for my own fine artwork.

Of course, exhibiting your creative work is the most essential thing for an artist. The Internet has made this process much easier, and I discovered a desire to learn the ins and outs of web design and development. To me, there is a sense of personal empowerment when I can make physical work and build an interactive space to display them for all to see.

Now I pretty much do both web and print design professionally, combining the aesthetics of fine art and graphic design for a variety of mediums. When it comes to my personal experience with web design/development, people find that coming up with a site for themselves a very daunting task, especially when they don’t know the first thing about it. That’s where the sensitive fine artist and the disciplined graphic designer kick in. When it comes to designing for others, I make sure to keep things comfortable for the aesthetically inclined and collaborate with them for a final product that satisfies everybody.

I am a woman who loves all things pertaining to the creative.
